Goobers and Raisinettes.

I was a woman possessed. I had to update the Summer of Socks blogs, which meant I needed to update my own blog, which meant I had to make some serious progress on my new Cat Bordhi sock so I'd have something to talk about. So, late Sunday afternoon, I planted myself in my favorite big blue chair, summoned the fledgling sock, and didn't really move for I-don't-know-how-long. ( I lost track somewhere in the middle of the heel turn.) The pattern is called Fountain Foxgloves. Here' s where I am now:

The first picture is supposed to be showing the pattern along the top of the foot. Let's just say that I got a little confused by the directions (in brief, it's about understanding whether she means to continue the pattern on the chart while increasing the gusset area, or just knit rounds 2-3 of each cycle as she says to...). And there it is. Hmmm.

The next photo is the right side of the heel. This makes me smile and feel like a competent knitter.

Then...

...there's this side. I did something funky on the left side. I know not what. Maybe it was during "The 4400". Maybe it's because my butt fell asleep.

Maybe I can blame Dubya.

In the meantime, here's the next stripe or two of Kauni. I know it's not significant in the big scheme of things, but it makes me happy to see it inch along:

At this point, I feel the need to digress and show a photo of our big orange cat, Hobbes, an action shot if you will.

We call this an action shot, as it's a departure from this, his usual fitness regimen:

Don't you think this cat needs a little friend? We've all been discussing this possibility, but have yet to run it by Hobbes. (It's hard to pin him down long enough to chat...as you can see, he's schedule's pretty packed.)

Last shot: I never posted a photo of this year's musical, "The Pirates of Penzance" (last year, it was Oklahoma--July 2006, if you're interested). Evan's another year older, and moving up the seniority ladder of the summer acting troupe. Last year, Will Parker; this year, the Major General (as in, "I am the very model of a modern major general...") . Did a bloody bang-up good job, but I'm his mom and therefore biased. So here's the boy, in most of his make-up during dress rehearsal (he's on the left).

Jolly good.

(Oh yeah...the post title? I dunno. Temporary insanity. Can I blame that on Dubya, too? )

Comments:
Nothing like waking up to a new Bossygirl post! And so many pix-me likey! See you soon, sis!

I too am glad to see you back and knitting..loved the pics and think the cat needs a buddy to encourage his exercise program to new heights. Hope you make it back to choir some year...miss you!

I say blame anything you possibly can think of on Dubya. It really is all his fault afterall. ;) I think the sock looks fine! No one but you will know that the little weirdness is there and it will be in your shoe anyway. :) And I didn't know you had an orange kitty too! He's very cute! :) Congrats to your son. He looks great. :)

Cats always need a buddy to play with. I have two cats just for that reason. What's so cute is when they cuddle with each other. SQUEEEEE. Kauni...wow...such an undertaking. Good luck.
The socks looks good too, love the colous of the yarn
