Lil' Ole Update, Y'all.

Not much time to chat, but here's an update:

Just got back from a college visit with the elder son to Vanderbilt in Nashville. Wow--what a great show they put on there. Ethan is sold--and I was pretty impressed as well. I'm glad the first visit out went so well. Because of that, this afternoon we were able to schedule 3 morevisits to other universities in the next few weeks without anyone arguing or fussing or nagging or rolling their eyes. Yay us. :-)

While in Nashville, Ethan and I went to the Loveless Cafe, where the name of the game is Southern comfort food. It was the best meal I've had in ages: country ham (in all its salty, leathery goodness), red-eye gravy, biscuits, black-eyed peas, and the most wonderful creamed corn ever created...plus, they actually offer "sweet tea"...and mean it! (I've been a Northerner for most of my adult life, but I was born and raised a Southerner. ) Thought I'd died and gone to heaven...cholesterol? What's that, y'all?

The Kauni is going better. Pictures promised soon. I like the new cast on--Twisted German Cast-On--the ribbing's smoother, but it's still curling a bit. Haven't tried steaming it yet. I'm finally back to the body of the sweater, without a big mess-up...yet.
S*%#.
Probably just jinxed myself.

We all finished The Book by Tuesday am. *whew* Well done, Ms. Rowling.

Haven't ventured back into the sock world yet...got a little gun-shy and busy as well. However, on Sunday, I'm (cue appropriate marching music) off to Band Camp with the high school band. Kauni is going, but if it's as gosh-awful hot as it was last year, she'll be resting un-comfortably in the cabin while the yet-to-be-started socks come out to play.

We'll be gone from Sunday to next Saturday...that's Ethan (his last year), Evan (his first), and me. I'll be the chaperone in the senior girls' cabin (I think). DH will be holding down the fort at home with Hobbes the cat. More than likely, the two will sit around shirtless, watching big tv and eating all meals out of bowls with big spoons. (Well, one of them will, anyway. *g*)

And now, here comes a big ol' thunderstorm, bringing much-needed rain. I love summer.

Comments:
Glad the college visit went so well. Great school! I didn't know you were a southerner by birth. Very cool.

I was wondering if you were doing the band camp thing again this year. :) Hope you and the knitting have a great time!
